THE ORIGINAL
Bird Studios Dragonball comic book series was concieved and created
by Akira Toriyama, a young and
up-coming graphic designer, in 1985.
Spanning 42 volumes, Dragonball followed the exploits of an innocent
Human called Goku and his desperate and hilarious attempts to save
Earth from a bunch of ravaging aliens. This was later on to evolve
into Dragonball Z in 1986 - a more
serious story which delved into Goku's past, present and future, and
introduced a range of new villains into the bargain.
Toriyama's comic books were turned into an animated TV series by Toei
Animation, which made the series even more popular - triggering
further interest around the globe. By the mid-Ninties Dragonball Z
videos, movies and figures became highly sought after by Manga
and Anime fans everywhere as the
Dragonball Z phenomenon swept the globe. |
